I have never been quite the same since we went to that Grotesque exhibition together Simone. All my sketches are 'disturbing' to say the least. Somehow, I cannot bring myself to sketch the light fantastic. I never wanted people to think Soul Food was sugar and spice and all things nice. I want it to be earthy and alive with the spirit of Mother Nature herself.

My hand is paradoxical, holding life and death in it all at the same time. It is indeed, pregnant with possibility, but I am ever aware that I must 'pay the ferry woman' by acknowledging the presence of hunger and desire for immortality.

I am so pleased to see that your lessons have been learned and that you are now able to participate fully. Clever banchee!

Thank you so much says Heather smiling very coyly.

I went to my art supply store yesterday and bought myself some coloured pencils. This is now an A3 sized picture with three hands and I have coloured and sprayed a fixitive on it. Can you believe that? I now know about fixitives and understand the difference between the coloured pencils.

The young people in the store are just lovely and are very enthusiastic about my macabre direction and what I can see in the shape of a hand. Even my son, who is the artist of the family, was most impressed with my direction and is bringing me his big set of coloured pencils.

Another store keeper showed me the work of James Gleeson and I stood drooling but closed the book and said no, I will look at these things after I have found my signature, my style.

It is very exciting and some encouragement goes a long way. Thank you so much Anita Marie. Your capitalization has made my day.
